Things about Bang Saray Beach that have never changed.
From my perspective, Bang Saray has been changing since I moved here in 2010. There are more restaurants, more shops, and, of course, more foreigners. Many years ago, Bang Saray’s population was only Thai people—some from Bangkok, and some local villagers.
What has never changed:
- 3-wheel motorbikes: The first time I ever saw a 3-wheel motorbike was when I came to Bang Saray. It’s nice and fun to sit in the sidecar, but I don’t have the skills to ride one myself. It is not easy at all!
2. Fresh seafood: Bang Saray always has fresh seafood because it is a fishing village. You don’t need to go anywhere else. Whatever you are looking for, Bang Saray has it.
3. Small shops: Even though there are more supermarkets nowadays (like 7-Eleven, Lotus’s Go Fresh, and CJ), small businesses are still surviving. The people here know each other and support one another.
4. The locals: The original residents are still living in Bang Saray. Many of them own their own land. While some prefer to sell, others keep it for their children. Land leasing is very common here; the locals prefer to lease their land rather than sell it because they know this area will become more and more valuable in the future.
5. The beach vibe: On the Bang Saray beachfront, it is comfortable to sit with family and enjoy the view of Jomtien. The beach is not as long as the one in Pattaya, but there is still plenty of space. There is enough room for Thai families who prefer to sit on mats, as well as foreigners who prefer to lie on beach chairs.
If you are looking for a peaceful life, look for Bang Saray.
