Pink ID Card for Foreigners in Thailand

1. What is the Pink ID Card?
The Pink ID Card is issued to foreigners whose names are registered in the Yellow House Registration Book (Thor.Ror.13).
(According to Ministerial Regulation, Section 5 of the Civil Registration Act B.E. 2534 (1991), amended by the Civil Registration Act (No.2) B.E. 2551 (2008), it is mandatory for non-Thai nationals who temporarily reside in Thailand and whose names are listed in the Yellow House Book beginning with numbers 6 or 7 to hold a legal identification card.)
2. Benefits of the Pink ID Card:
2.1 The card can be used in place of a passport within Thailand for various transactions requiring Thai ID, such as registering a vehicle, renting a property, accessing healthcare, or paying Thai national entrance fees.
2.2 The holder is assigned a Thai ID number, and their name is transliterated into Thai script.
2.3 It allows the holder to open a Thai bank account.
Documents Required for the Pink ID Card Application:
- Original passport
- Yellow House Registration Book (Thor.Ror.13)
- Residence notification document for foreigners (obtainable from Immigration Bureau)
- (If married to a Thai or with a Thai family) Marriage certificate or birth certificate (case dependent)
- (If employed in Thailand) Work permit
- (If owning property in Thailand) Sales agreement and ownership documents
- Two witnesses with their Thai ID cards
Remarks:
- This ID card does not affect visa status. All visa conditions still apply.
- It does not grant Thai citizenship or Thai citizen rights.
- Application must be made at a district office or local municipal office.
- The card is valid for 10 years. For those over 60, it has no expiry date.
- Applicable to foreigners holding a Non-O visa.
